Before you decided to sell or buy your current HDB Resale flat, you have to meet the conditions of one of the eligibility schemes and other mandatory requirements.
Buying HDB Resale Flat
These are various types of schemes under eligibility to buy a HDB Resale flat.
- Public Scheme
- Fiancé/Fiancée Scheme
- Single Singapore Citizen Scheme
- Joint Singles Scheme
- Non-Citizen Spouse Scheme
- Non-Citizen Family Scheme

- Conversion Scheme
The most common schemes will be Public Scheme and Fiancé/Fiancée Scheme if you are buying the resale flat with:
- your husband/wife and children (if any) or
- your parents and siblings (if any) or
- your children under your legal custody, care and control (if you are a widowed or divorced)
- You are buying the resale flat with your fiancé/fiancée (intending to get married)
Selling HDB Flat
Before you decided to sell your current HDB flat. Seller have to ensure that they have met the conditions to sell thier flat.
Owners must fullfill Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of 5 years and they must have physically occupied thier flat for that period of time before they can sell in open resale market.
The MOP period is calculated based on the date you collect the keys to the flat. Any period that the flat is not occupied by the flat owners will not be factor in the MOP of 5 years. Eg. When the whole flat is rented out or when there is any infringement of the flat lease. The length of MOP depends on the purchase mode, flat type and date of flat application.
